I love that movie - k-Pax. I just saw it recently for the first time and really want to buy the dvd. It was so good... I'm so glad your "date" went well. Jogging must be a good way to get to know someone...

Re: The Eugene story. The thing I'm being vague about in my online journal? Similar situation. Only not as serious as that. And I only find it more ironic that his name is Eugene...

Logically, what your friend is doing isn't a good thing: however, when have human beings ever been logical where emotions are concerned? Let him know you're there if he needs you - call him maybe? And, if I may be so bold, how did the run turn out? :)

I think the best quote I ever heard is, "Be Gentle, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle." I think it makes me realize that I don't know what is best for everyone and I definatley do no know what everyone is going through. Eugene and you are living two very different experiences. Although you both lost women that you love, rejection and betrayal were probably two emotions you were spared from concerning you and your wife... to a lesser degree than your friend, I assume. Don't close doors when friends do things you don't agree with. He is fighting a great battle. Although his move isn't the best, he is acting on hurt and loss. Just be understanding and true to your friendship with him. As a friend, this is what your duty to him is about.

Kids have big mouths... Eugene's really playing with fire here. All it'll take is one word from his kids to their Mom about Sara and that'll be the end of it. :(

Thanks for checking out my diary, even if you only enjoyed reading some of the entries (hey, I never claimed to be brilliant!) I am also glad to find another Ethan Canin fan. He is a guest faculty member at my University- aren't I lucky? I think your writing is lovely; I have a feeling you'll become a favorite. :)
