I think you got more beauty out of that Grand Canyon than many tourists, and I think the soft handed girl may have had a *lot* to do with that. At any rate, it was lovely to read of such a wonderful experience! :)

I haven't been to the Grand Canyon since I was 8 years old and I've been itching to get back ever since. It sort of has a way of making you feel small while at the same time feeling closer to all those larger, unexplainable things in life.

One last thing, and it's not my business or place to say it, but your "baseball and miracles" tale seems like excellent material for a short story (art imitating life, as it were). In fact, it seems like excellent material for a short story you'd read in The New Yorker or something like that. I don't know if you write fiction, but you're such a strong writer, I couldn't help but point that out. Sorry if I've offended with the suggestion.
