I can't imagine the pain of deciding to take my child off of life support. I imagine that it was and is the worst thing that you will ever experience. It gives me chills to even think about being put in that siutation with Griffin. However I think taht you did what was right. Hope had no chance to survive and you released her. When babies die, they go straight to heaven. They don't have to endure any of the hurt in this world. While it's sad for us, it's almost beautiful for them. They never have to be away from God. Maybe I'm wrong. I can't imagine losing Griffin but at the same time it would give me peace that he had never committed a sin and that his soul and heart were pure. Anyways as for Terri, I think it's cruel and unusual punishment for her to be starved to death. It's inhumane. I can't imagine what her parents are going through, watching their daughter starve and thirst. Ten people were arrested for trying to give her water, why can she not be given water? That should not be the hospice or the courts decision. It breaks my heart that this poor woman after all she's been through will now starve and thirst until her dying day. If her husband just wants out then let her become her parents responsibility. What does he really care if she is still here? I think he's doing it for money. He won't get a dime if he divorces her but isn't there a ton of money coming from lawsuits when she dies? He's an evil bastard and I hope he does pay for this.

That's a powerful entry. Mr. Shaivio is a difficult person to grasp or admire or even tolerate, but at some point years ago I believe he was at the same horrific stage of decision making. What terrible choices we sometimes have to make.

I think I fixed the link. I think :P I'm just floored by some of the prattle people are spewing in reference to that school shooting. How did that boy get his father's guns? Yes, okay, he's law enforcement. Does that mean they are sitting out, available? How did he get in the school with them? I don't think it's necessarily about class size either. I'll never claim to have all the answers or even one solution but there's something radically wrong with the whole scenario. Glad your son wasn't hurt--kids can scare the living crud out of us, can't they?

Yeah, all my kids have pulled one of those on me at some point and like you, I was always right there. The scariest thing that ever happened was at the swimming pool and I was right there when my youngest (about 15 mos old then) was knocked under the water by another kid. I yanked her up out of the water but boy, the look of surprise & fear in her eyes stays with me!

My son did that same thing a few months ago when I was brushing my teeth. Only it was a stacking cup he threw in and went after. :)

About A Boy? I remember you mentioned that movie a few times even though I haven't actually seen it. And it really is driving me nuts. I'm like that.

Just thought I'd say hello. You've probably gotten a tremendous number of hits from my IP lately. You're a great writer. I do have one question. What movie inspired your self portrait? It's been driving me nuts. :)

Given a choice between watching the Jazz play, and staying home with the family, umm, I think you definitely made the right decision!
